Smart ways to clean at the cleaners

  • Bring a garment in for professional cleaning as soon as possible after staining occurs. Stains and soils left too long can be impossible to remove and will shorten the lifetime of your garment.
  • Discuss any stains with your cleaners. It is helpful to tell the cleaners what caused the stains so that proper stain removal techniques can be applied.
  • Empty out all your pockets.
  • If you find an open seam or a button missing, mend them yourself or ask the cleaners to do so. If special buttons are used or pendants are attached, take these items off the clothes before sending them to the cleaners.
  • When cleaned clothes are returned, check the quality thoroughly and promptly. If unsatisfactory or damaged items are found, inform the cleaners immediately.
  • Always keep the receipt from the cleaners.
  • Remove the plastic film cover from the clothes as soon as you get home from the cleaners, air them in shade for awhile before putting them in the closet.
  • Be sure to pick up your items promptly after being cleaned. Cleaners are not responsible for items left over 30 days.

Smart ways to protect your garments

  • Read care label instructions of your garments. Check garment materials and any handle with care signs. Some materials cannot be washed in water and may state to dry clean only.
  • Follow the care labels on your garments. It is the manufacturer’s responsibility if any items are damaged when instructions are followed.
  • Allow perfumes, lotions, deodorants, antiperspirants, and other toiletries to dry before you get dressed since these products can contain ingredients, that affect some dyes.
  • Protect garments from excessive perspiration, especially silks because it can cause many dyes to discolor.
  • Protect your garments from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or strong artificial light. Keep in mind that even indoor lighting can affect some dyes.
  • Don't press stained or soiled clothes. The heat may set some stains.
